Open Question: Looking for good beginner golf clubs?
story: I'm 16 years old and have been playing golf on and off for a total of about 6 months? my clubs were a gift from my uncle (who plays golf) when i first enrolled in a golf program. 6 months later i am planning on trying out for the golf team and feel the need to expand my club set (which currently consists of a 3 wood, a 5 iron, 9 iron, and a putter)
My requests: i need a good cheap (preferably) brand of clubs for a driver, and maybe a wedge, and more irons. which clubs would you suggest and how do i know what height to get? keep in mind i'm 16 years old and on a budget. thankyou!

Voting Question: how can i stop my body and hips getting to far in front of my arms and hands leading to a slice?
I started golf about 2 years ago and was always taught that the downswing is initiated by the firing of my right hip forward. this is great as it leads to a lot of power and is helpful as i know drive the ball a mile. But and its a very big but i cant play my irons!!! the slice is horrible when watching myself in recordings i can see my arms are very far behind my body thus leading to the club face being very open.
what can i do to stop this? I've tried initiating the downswing with my my arms or shoulders to no avail and I've really tried flattening the plane of my swing to try and draw the ball which works but is very inconsistent.
can anybody help me?

Voting Question: Do you think I can go Pro?
I am getting ready to turn 23 and I want to know if you think I can go Pro in Golf by the time I am 25? Say I shoot an average round of 77... on a course where the conditions are not that great (some putts should go in but the greens are bumpy and not always true.) I can drive the ball around 310 (again with better fairways I would get more roll) My iron game probably is what needs the most work but when I was playing every day I was a lot better... closer to par (a few under, a few over) Do you think that there is anyway that I could improve my game to get on the NationWide or even PGA Tour within the next 2 years? How about before I am 30? Bubba Watson is 31 right? when did he start? I really love the game so I would like to know. Don't be shy with the answers I am good with constructive criticism.
I Do have a lot of rounds if not most of them with 28 putts or less and yes my drive are between 290 and 330... depends on roll or hitting uphill

Voting Question: I'm a 15 year old and I drive the ball 260 and hit my 6 iron 165, Is that enough?
I keep thinking I don't have enough distance.
one guy I know hits it farther but he's stockier and a little shorter
if you play golf or watch it a lot, is that short for a junior golfer? I'm 5'7" and 125 lbs.

Voting Question: im a low handicap golfer and my swing is on plane and im in good positions, but right at impact i come up and?
lose my posture. this happens about every 1 out of 3 swing. my driver is fine tho its only my irons and wedges. when it happens i hit a little thin bleeder to the right. does anyone have any advice, tips, or drills that will help me stay in my posture throughout the whole golf shot?

Resolved Question: How do I identify my golf clubs?
I was given a set of irons (3,4,5,6,7,8,P). I don't play golf and would like to sell them but I don't know enough about them to set a price. Is there anyway to identify the golf clubs so I can find out how much they are worth?
The grips say "Precept, Tour Velvet, Golf Pride, USA", the shaft says "Dynalite Gold, True Temper" and the heads say "Precept Tour Premium C8, Forged, Tungsten"
I stand corrected, it is "Precept, Tour Premium CB"

Voting Question: Golf-What is the statistic, 'Iron accuracy'? How do you measure it?
Couldn't find it anywhere-
I understand green in regulation...
Saw a stat chart for comparing oneself to a scratch golfer where it was a separate category than GIR, and the percentage was lower.

Chart is in middle of page and never explains what it is.

Resolved Question: When buying custom golf clubs, what happens next?
Do they create the club from scratch or do they bend and re-shaft an iron already made?
I was wondering because I am about to buy custom clubs, but if they do everything to a club already made, I can get the clubs for 300+ less off ebay BRAND NEW then anywhere else.
Please give real answers and not stupid comments like norma. Thank you
Very good answer charles. My pro is the one fitting me and believes it is the right choice. I have taken 5 or 6 lessons with him and he said my swing is "gorgous" and this will help me straighten out some of my shots. I hit pw 150 and 3 iron 230 so its not a problem of distance or hitting the ball .
